Google Planning to Open Brick-and-Mortar Stores in India to Increase Google Pixel Sales Google’s planning to open brick -and-mortar stores in India to help boost sales of Google Pixel devices in the country, according to three sources who spoke to  Telecom from the Economic Times.  The search giant hired a key Apple executive to help with the expansion, and plans to open “experience stores” where users can try out the new features. Google was reportedly encouraged to open new locations after the massive interest that followed its pop-up  Google Pixel 2  stores around the country, which included the High Street Phoenix shopping center in Mumbai and the Mall of India in Delhi-NCR. India’s technological growth is among the fastest in the world, and Google’s presence is lacking in comparison to competitors like Apple, Vivo and Xiaomi. It’s unclear whether Google will open its own stores or outsource the operations to a third party. Apple’s seeki...

Moto G4 Plus Gets Support for 64-Bit Custom ROMs Smartphone manufacturers sometimes make odd decisions . For example, Motorola released the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G5 Plus with a  32-bit Android operating system , despite the fact both processors are capable of running 64-bit software. It never made much sense — most Android applications require 64-bit software support, including the popular  Google Camera HDR+ Port . But there’s hope: XDA Recognized Developer  vache  brought 64-bit support to the Moto G5 Plus, and now XDA Recognized Developer  Dreamstar  has come up with a 64-bit solution for the Moto G4 Plus. The instructions are fairly straightforward, and were published on XDA’s Moto G4 Plus forums along with a download link for 64-bit LineageOS 15.1, a device tree, kernel tree, vendor tree, and 64-bit enabled TWRP . In 64-bit environment on the Moto G4 Plus and Moto G5 Plus, all of the system processes except for app_process  — the system server ...

Xiaomi Mi A1’s Android Oreo Beta Adds Fast Charging Feature The Xiaomi Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first Android One device. Android One is a program aimed at providing cheaper devices running near stock builds of Android. The Mi A1 thus launched with a near stock version of Android Nougat with a promise to receive an Android Oreo update. Indeed, after seeking beta testers , Xiaomi began rolling out the Mi A1’s Android Oreo update to a select group of users. The update adds many typical Android Oreo features such as picture-in-picture mode, Autofill API, and more, but it also adds an unexpected feature: fast charging.
